Fish tales great place for sea food

We have been in Sawtell now for a week.  Sawtell is located about 7 km south of Coffs. It has much more of a village feel with lovely coffee shops and restaurants up and down the main tree lined street.

Sawtell also has a movie house which is just so 60’s, but lovely. Quite large I guess around 200 seating. We went to go and see “BRAN NU DAE” which is an Australia movie. Very light-hearted musical and funny. This is how old movies were made – left you with a really good feel. Well worth seeing.

The fishing here has been good as there is a river mouth that produces good Bream and Flathead.  I have been using cooked Vietnam prawns as bait and caught an eatable Bream first throw in. The Vietnam prawns are not good eating but the fish like them. I suppose if you are not catching fish you can eat the prawns while you fish.

Diane and I went up to the headland last night for our sundowner – it was like being in paradise – no wind and spectacular sunset. The caravan park is very nice, plenty of room and our site has an en suite  – very handy. I joined the Sawtell golf club and have managed to play a bit while we have been here. We leave on the 22nd March to go down to South West Rocks then on to Port Macquarie for our house sit. Lets hope that this house sit will be better than our first go. I am sure it could not be worse!!!

As you can see we are travelling around OZ for the next couple of years or so – We are also doing some house sitting – We look after a hope here in Coffs Harbour for 3 weeks then down to Port Mc quarie to house sit for 6 weeks and then up to a place called Yeppoon(near Rockhampton central Queensland) until August then back down to the Sunshine coast for a month house sit then over to Perth to spend Xmas with our son and our grand daughters.

It has been interesting and enjoyable.

Funny in most photos you have a glass of wine in your hands….Saw in paper recenly that the Surfers Golf Club deal is off so no going to the Glades….I have just returned from N.Z. had one game of golf in Tauranga – very nice – greens so different to ours, a little slower – lots of grass….
